What is your favorite feature in Figma?
My favorite feature in Figma is definitely a tie between Snapping, Grids, and Placeholders. I love that you can snap to points in your design so easily, especially when using multiple elements. The grids make it easier to size things properly as well! I haven’t used placeholders for much yet (mainly just for illustrations), but that is something I’m looking forward to playing around with more as we progress into different phases of our designs. It’s awesome how we can jump back and forth from prototype mode to design mode in Figma—I look forward to pushing it even further with our animations!
What are the top three features you would like to see in Figma?
The main three features I would like to see in Figma are
Design system support
Built-in revision history If these were implemented, then Figma would be a clear winner for us.
We have been using Sketch for years now but we’ve been itching to move over to something that has real-time collaboration built into it (and more than just two people). We also need design system support because we use Atomic Design at work and having that supported in Figma would make things so much easier. And finally, revision history is something that every single piece of software should have! It’s such an essential feature that it should be included by default. Even Google Docs has a revision history!
What was your first experience with digital design tools?
I started using Sketch years ago when I was working in a startup creating an iOS app. In order to create wireframes, I found that Sketch was a better alternative to Balsamiq which is just a great tool to create basic wireframes fast. After trying several prototyping tools, I finally found Figma where my team is using it now to speed up our UI/UX process. What’s really awesome about Figma is that it’s much more than just UI/UX tool—it has everything you need to speed up your design process without sacrificing quality or your team’s time
How many hours do you spend on design each day?
I usually design anywhere from 4 to 6 hours each day. I feel that 4 hours is too little while 8 or more hours is too much. You can also try 3 or 5 hours depending on your workload. Just remember that good things take time, so don’t expect to become a master designer overnight. Also, there are many other factors that affect your productivity such as sleep quality, diet and exercise. A good way to get into a routine is to set daily goals for yourself. For example: I will design for 2 hours today or I will complete my tasks by 1 PM every day. When you work towards something specific it makes it easier to be productive since you have something concrete to aim for rather than just working until you get tired and then going home. Also, when you reach these goals reward yourself with something fun like going out with friends or buying yourself something nice! It helps keep motivation high and ensures you won’t give up when times get tough!
At my core, I’m a designer. That’s why I naturally gravitated towards UI/UX. Figma has been a great way for me to combine my love of design with digital product design. Of course, it wasn’t always easy getting started! But, I relied on Figma to take me from beginner to expert. What are some of your strengths as a designer?
When answering questions about your strengths as a designer, be sure to share specific examples of work where you utilized these skills. Examples should also be relevant to whatever job you’re interviewing for. Avoid giving generic answers that don’t tell hiring managers anything they don’t already know. For example, I am a hard worker who always produces high-quality designs on time doesn’t tell anyone anything specific about your design capabilities or potential—and it isn’t likely to impress hiring managers in its generality.
Do you have any project or personal workflow tips for us?
Our team is pretty young so we’re still figuring things out. We’re not super formal and everyone has a pretty different style. That said, we all use Figma every day, regardless of what our current project or personal workflow is. We’ve found that having a tool that empowers you to design any way you want is really important to keeping your work fresh. But like I said earlier, there’s no one right way to do things at Intercom – everyone just kind of does their own thing! If anyone has specific questions though feel free to reach out.
Can you describe your preferred process when beginning a new design task?
For my design process, I start with a discussion with whoever has brought me on to do work for them. This is especially important when it comes to wireframing because you have to make sure you’re communicating with your client or boss about what they want. You also have to figure out what media they prefer. For example, do they want print mockups or digital ones? Do they want high-fidelity designs or something basic? The better you can get at figuring out what your clients need from you, the easier it will be for you to complete your job effectively.
What is your all-time favorite app, website, tool, or service that doesn’t have anything to do with designing?
It doesn’t have anything to do with designing, but I love Reddit. I spend a lot of time on there learning about people’s lives and experience in different parts of the world. It has helped me become more understanding about how other people are living their lives, even if it is far from mine. There are so many different types of experiences out there, ones that would be impossible to get exposure to otherwise.

I was recommended by one of my colleagues. I’ve heard a lot about Figma from him, and I’m very impressed with your tool. So, I thought it would be an ideal place to work. Plus, I love being in San Francisco! It’s such a beautiful city. I used to live here before moving to Seattle last year for my current job. It feels great to be back!
