Job Description


Technical Support Analyst – We are seeking a Technical Support Analyst who provides onsite and remote computer hardware and software support at the Carey Business School, Harbor East campus Monday through Friday, other days and times as needed including occasional weekend work and occasional work at the Washington Campus. This position also provides physical setup and support for academic computing resources for classroom technology, audio/visual equipment, applications, products, and services.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:





  • Provide daily reports to IT Manager on current issues.
  • Provide support and troubleshooting for classrooms, and Administrative PCs.
  • Resolve network printer problems.
  • Resolve and troubleshoot workstation, network, and internet access problems.
  • Assist students and faculty on the use of installed software applications.
  • Provide support for Network Servers by resolving user access problems on servers.
  • Provide Technical Support for classes and activities, which include the following: setup classrooms with needed AV and computer; assist students in accessing and setting up e-mail accounts and on use of various applications, which are installed on Harbor East Center computers; set up student and faculty personal computer equipment (mostly laptops) for accessing Harbor East Center network and LCD projectors for presentation purposes.
  • Able to carry loads of 50lbs, including printers and computers, for physical set up.
  • Able to use a 10′ step ladder.

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • One-year related experience required.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.*
  • JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • 3 or more years of related experience preferred.

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of general A/V installation techniques.
  • Highly knowledgeable about video meeting software (Zoom, WebEx, GoToMeeting).
  • Knowledge of A/V management systems (Crestron, Extron) preferred.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and peripherals.
  • Working Knowledge of iOS and Android OS.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office 2016 and newer.
  • Working knowledge of Windows Operating Systems, including version 10.
  • Working knowledge of MacOS.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot technical problems and make repairs.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • Ability to be pro-active in a very busy IT environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of SCCM and MDT programs a plus.
  • Some knowledge of and experience with Windows Server Operating Systems, HP printer repair, and audio equipment setup and configuration.
